ID.me's Identity Gateway also has a Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) Moderate Authority to Operate (ATO). ID.me is the only provider with video chat and is committed to "No Identity Left Behind" to enable all people to have a secure digital identity.
The company has garnered a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in its identity verification service, which many users found secure and efficient, particularly praising the helpfulness of customer service during video calls. However, significant concerns were raised regarding the complexity of the verification process, which some customers found frustrating and time-consuming, particularly older users or those with unique identification issues. Additionally, delays and technical difficulties, including issues with document acceptance and login credentials, have led to dissatisfaction among several users. Overall, while the service is valued for its security, improvements in user experience and support are essential.

It's not like you have a choice if you want to get into your SSA account or IRS account! It took days to get this sorted out. Their ability to review the photos of my documents was pathetic.
I received a suspicious email about my Social Security documents. So, I didn't click on anything and went the direct route to SSA.gov. Using ID.me as my secure access portal I was able to access the actual Government site and verify a few things. That was my reason for using ID.me, today.
Horrible wait time experience. They do offer to set up an appointment, but it only goes as far out as the current week, and it completely fills up very quickly. I was estimated a 2 hour 5 minute wait time at around 1 o clock my time. NINE HOURS LATER, I finally get onto a call. The guy working the call was great, no complaints there. Quick and easy once we connected. But the wait time is inexcusable.
ID.me has helped me save Money on shoes, clothing, sunglasses, etc. It has saved me some money and I appreciate there's a program that helps first responders and healthcare workers save some money. We feel appreciated. Thank you
After multiple attempts to rectify my status to active duty instead of veteran there is no method that works. No actual person will contact me either. I feel like this company is a scam.
I was given an estimated wait time to speak to someone of an hour and a half. When I went to schedule a time to speak to someone, no matter what time or day I selected, it said there were no more available slots for that time. So I waited. The hour and a half expected wait time turned into four hours of my time being held captive only to be on the line with someone for five minutes. It is two days later and I am still fuming.
Muy rápido y la persona que me ayudo excelentes servicio.
Trying to figure out how to push the right buttons on a phone or computer is not that much fun. It can be more aggravating than productive. Verifying my information with I'd me was more or less self explanatory. If you need the service provided, it's the way to go. Just trying to get from one app to another for verification isn't any fun though…that's really my one gripe
I just got done writing a 3k character complaint on their survey but, ill copy and paste the same thing I said there. Idc.
I managed to stay awake all 17.5 hours worth of wait time. The second day in a row. The previous day I only afforded 12 hours before I was passing out due to lack of sleep. The day before that, I tried for 6 hours, but kept getting an error message if I left the tab on my phone to go look at something else for a moment, it would time out. On the day I waited for 17.5 hours straight, I had to babysit the tab the whole time and couldn't leave. I restricted eating, bathroom trips, and going anywhere just in case it was time. I couldn't do anything else on my PC for more than 5 minutes straight so I was trained from my previous long wait times, to sit there, on that tab, and don't do anything, for 17.5 hours. The time started saying 1 hour and 42 minutes to wait, at the beginning. 17.5 hours later, I got on the call, at 6am or so. I stayed up all night. I'm exhausted, still, and it's been days.
The time kept jumping up. It would go from 1 hour to 4. Then come back down. It would jump every 15-30 minutes, and come back down. From 45 minutes to 2 hours, and back. Over and over. Getting my hopes up. It's unstable.
I tried to schedule ahead. There were no time available. Ever. There should be more time slots across several more days, maybe even weeks ahead, not just one week.
I've never dealt with anything on this scale of serious deception of wait time and delay, dear lord. I think I'd rather lose an arm or a leg than ever deal with having to wait for a video call that long with that many restrictions to my own autonomy for the sake of keeping the tab alive, again.
I shouldn't have had to refresh the page every 10 or so minutes, for 17.5 hours, to hold a place in line, only to wait that long. I'll never EVER forgot that, and everybody I know, knows about this experience. I hope they never experience what I just went through.
The video call agent was very very nice. They're was no issue with them at all. Legit just the insane wait time, instability of the site, inaccessible scheduling time slots that were perpetually unavailable, and when I tried to email about asking if there was a way to do this in person anywhere, I just got a bot that emailed me immediately, repeating a FAQ answer, as if I asked that. I wanted to know about THIS site. To set up a wallet. Not about the sites I wanted to use with the id.me login. I know if I wanted to do that, I could work with mail over 2 weeks for some sites. I wanted to verify on this site. But, the bot didn't get it, and sent me FAQ crap, that was on topic, but missed the entire point. I felt hopeless this entire experience. Defeated. Drained. At least I had an experience I'll never forget! It was just probably one of the worst ones I've ever had with a site, ever in my life I'm not even kidding. This is a genuine fact.
Please, PLEASE update to have accurate wait times so next time, maybe I can sleep while waiting 17.5 hours, or go to the bathroom in that time without rushing to get back just in case. Get more scheduling slots, or hire more staff and pay these current ones more because they're taking the heaviest burden and dealing with people like me who waited an entire day's worth of time just to see them.
I hope I never have to go through that again.
Streamline the ability to verify who you are without compromising data ensuring a faster smoother online shopping experience or even for business identification purposes love this app.
The only blip on my time signing up is the long waiting time i understand that they were slammed. Loading up the documents easy and talking with the agent easy it did not last 5 mins it was just the wait.
My experience with ID.me was extremely frustrating from start to finish.
The instructions regarding the required documents were not clear at the beginning, which caused delays and wasted time. Later, the follow-up email explaining what documents were acceptable only created more confusion. I was never completely sure what I was supposed to submit.
Despite scheduling appointments, I was not successful on my first, second, or even third attempt to complete the verification process. I spent hours waiting in the queue, was kicked out multiple times, and on one occasion the system actually told me I had "missed my appointment" while I was actively online waiting to be connected. During one attempt I waited nearly 8 hours.
The wait times were unacceptable, especially for people who are trying to access important government services. The process was confusing, inefficient, and unnecessarily difficult to navigate.
When I finally connected with an agent, the experience did not improve. The agent was brief, did not properly introduce himself, did not clearly explain the process, and did not make me feel comfortable sharing highly sensitive personal information. Instead of giving me confidence, the interaction left me feeling nervous and uncertain.
Identity verification services should be clear, reliable, professional, and efficient. Unfortunately, my experience with ID.me was the exact opposite. Based on my experience, I would not recommend it and believe government agencies should seriously evaluate better alternatives.
Don't bother making an appointment, they will be hours late and then have to audacity to send you an email that you missed it if you leave after 2 HOURS of waiting. Have some respect.
Horrible experience all around, from getting my documents approved, uploading the documents, trying to make an appointment, waiting over a week to get my documents even reviewed, waiting for the video call with an agent, everything was awful. Please do yourself a favor and find any way possible to skip this process with ID.me.
When I rolled the dice of a video call to verify my identity, I was told my wait time would be 2 hours, 44 minutes. Waited nearly six hours and ID.me never got to me. I then scheduled an appointment a few days later and it took all of five minutes to complete the verification process.
Long waiting hours to have a video call, the waiting logic is messy. The 2nd point is that it is very easy to suspend your account and need to wait a couple of days to unsuspend it
Verification is good, but waiting for the video call was very long. At the first beginning, it showed me the estimated time was 3 hours, but actually, I waited for more than 7 hours.
Al momento de la llamada todo bien, unicamente la espera para poder llegar a tener esa videallamada es que costo un poco.
Waited for nearly 24 hours for a supposedly "three hour wait. Missed appointments had to sit by the phone on a constant basis when I actually finally made a person not even I owe of an apology. Make sure you don't use a human or you're gonna have a bad time.
