Being located in Southern California, I found that the warehouse in Santa Fe Springs is only 15 minutes away from my office. So pickup is convenient and deliveries are inexpensive. Not to mention that having material that is available in sizes that I can fit in my car means that I don't have to borrow a truck or van to pickup lengths of metal too big for my car.

I paid for expedited shipping. Ordered on Saturday, and Monday morning the status was shipped, but without a tracking number. Much later on Monday a tracking number was posted and UPS reported that a number was pulled, but they did not have the package. Then they posted delivery would be Tuesday. That did not occur and an error status was displayed. Eventually I got the material on Thursday. By then, I had pushed the material from another supplier to make sure I could fulfill the customer order. When I got the material, it was in a box which was about 2-3 times the size of the metal bar with one small sheet of paper. So the material moved freely over a large distance. The MTR and Invoice which were in the box were crushed and ripped. The box was failing (ripping open). You did refund 50% of the shipping fee, but the shipping experience was terrible. Material was good, but you have a problem you need to fix.

I was able to find exactly what I needed. My only complaint is that what I ordered was from a third party, so Online Metals wasn't able to custom cut them for me before I received them.

My material escaped the shipping box during transit so I only received an empty box. I contacted customer service and a replacement was shipped out. I received the replacement about one week later. The material was shipped in the same packaging as the first order and although it made the trip the packaging is too weak for this type of material. The customer service response was good but proper packaging would have eliminated this issue and the resulting delay in my project.

Customer needed new blades for a pair of custom-built offset drywall taping knives. The required steel was difficult to find initially, but OnlineMetals had a variety of tempered spring sheets. I settled on 0.025" thickness, which is a bit thicker than needed but simple enough to reduce to the needed thickness. Hardness is great, still workable but resilient. Accurate dimensions, nearly perfectly square, and uniform thickness. Pretty niche work, but if it comes up again, OnlineMetals will be my go-to for sheet spring steel.
