My Payoneer account has been blocked since January 17, and I was later informed that the account was permanently closed. I understand that Payoneer may apply internal security and compliance procedures, but my main concern is the access to my remaining funds.
For several months, I have been asking for a clear explanation about how and when my funds can be released, but I have not received a concrete timeline or solution.
I am not asking for the account to be reopened. I am asking for a clear process to recover the money that remains in the account.
I am sharing this publicly because the lack of transparency and the long delay have caused serious stress and financial uncertainty. I hope Payoneer can review this case and provide a clear written answer regarding the release of my funds.

This situation is causing significant inconvenience, and I have not received a clear resolution yet. I kindly request you to urgently review my account, investigate the reason behind this restriction, and provide a proper update on when it will be resolved.

Payoneer has turned KYC and AML "compliance" into a weapon. They drag you through endless verification loops for months, rejecting documents for ever-changing reasons. One representative says it's fine, the next rejects it. They hit you with the same scripted AI responses over and over while your money sits there until they can take it from you.

They hide behind "we have to follow regulations" while twisting those rules as much as they can get away with. It's like their strategy is to prolong the process until the annual maintenance fee deadline hits, quietly taking their cut from your balance. Or until your balance is below the withdrawal threshold. Technically, it might stay just inside the legal lines, but it feels like theft dressed up as compliance and it's unethical. They may be required by law to do KYC, but they are not required to wait until they are already in possession of your money to do it.

I did a small job on UpWork. The only method they gave me to withdraw the money was Payoneer. So I created a Payoneer account, and Upwork automatically sent the money ($179 USD) there. A year later, without warning, Payoneer charged a yearly fee, leaving only $149 USD in the account.

Now, I'm trying to withdraw those $149 USD from Payoneer. I have been trying for several months, but they're making it extremely difficult, to the point where it is practically impossible for me to get my money back. Could it be because the yearly fee is due soon?

When I created the account and transferred the money, Payoneer didn't ask for any documents. They just allowed me to open the account and took my money with no questions asked. Now that I want my money back, they are demanding documents that I simply don't have. No matter how much I explain that I don't have those documents, they keep insisting on them. I can't give them something that doesn't exist and that is not possible for me to get.

They made me verify my ID, which I did. Now they are demanding proof of address. I sent them everything I have, but they keep rejecting everything. They explicitly told me in some cases that a certain document would be accepted in my particular situation, only to immediately reject it once I sent it, contradicting themselves each time. They're also asking for documents with highly private information, which would become a security issue if they were to end up in the wrong hands.

They are acting in what I can only think of as bad faith and predatory practice after my experience with them. They are using regulatory compliance (KYC/AML) as cover for what amounts to holding my money hostage until I produce documents they didn't require when accepting the funds.

Payoneer has full, direct visibility into the legitimate origin of these funds; their trusted partner Upwork. There has been zero other activity on the account. This is a transparent, insignificant low-value, low-risk case. There are no indicators whatsoever of high risk or unusual activity. In such cases, Payoneer can allow for less strict requirements. Repeated and escalating demands for yet more proof of address verification are disproportionately strict and overly reactive.

After reading through lots of similar stories in different places on the internet, it's clear that this is a pattern they repeat over and over with a ton of people.

They seem to target the small accounts the most. They know most people won't spend weeks or months fighting over $150. So those making the least amount of money and who need it the most are the ones who get screwed the hardest.

They have practically zero real customer service. It's all automated AI bots that ignore everything you say and just spit out the same generic nonsense. I have sent them close to 40 emails by now during the past few months. Most of them are me practically repeating the same thing over and over again to them. Their AI picks just a small part of my emails to respond to and ignores everything else.

I learned the hard way and want to warn others: stay away from Payoneer!

And for those in this situation already, don't give up! Don't let them have your money because you feel it's not enough to be worth fighting for. It's not about the money; it's about not letting them get away with this shady practice of making money little by little by screwing over the most vulnerable freelancers.

I have had an extremely disappointing experience with Payoneer. I've been trying to resolve a refund and account funding issue since 9 February, with multiple support cases open and no meaningful resolution. Support supervisors have even told me it could take up to 24 additional business days for my refund — which is unacceptable.

My Dutch business bank account was incorrectly classified as personal, my payment methods are unusable, and every support response requires explaining the issue again from scratch. This has cost me time, money (on international calls), and operational delays for my business.

Customer support lacks continuity, direct accountability, and real solutions. I cannot recommend Payoneer for business use — especially if you need consistent access to your funds or responsive support.

AVOID PAYONEER - ACCOUNT FROZEN DESPITE COMPLETING ALL REQUIREMENTS

I completed every single KYC verification document by December 30,2025. My Verification Center shows ALL requirements as "APPROVED":
Passport - Approved
Photo with date - Approved
Visual identity verification - Approved
Detail Mismatch questionnaire - Approved
Store URL - Approved
Zero open items remaining

Yet as of January 5,2026 (6+ DAYS after final approval), my GBP, EUR, and USD account balances remain DISABLED. No explanation provided despite multiple escalations.

PAYONEER'S FALSE PROMISES:
- Website states: "1-3 business days for account activation"
- Reality: 6+ days and still disabled
- Agent "Princess" promised "24 business hours" on Dec 27 - never fulfilled
- Multiple agents say "escalated to relevant team" - no action taken

MY ATTEMPTS TO RESOLVE:
Email support (Case #**************) - only generic responses
Live chat (3+ separate sessions) - acknowledged but no resolution
Phone support (*******695) - no specific timeline given
Executive escalation email - completely ignored

FINANCIAL DAMAGE:
- Cannot access $3,000+ in legitimate e-commerce earnings
- Amazon marketplace disbursements frozen for 21+ days
- eBay marketplace payments inaccessible for 14+ days
- Business operations completely paralyzed
- Daily income loss continues to accumulate

OFFICIAL COMPLAINTS FILED:
Due to Payoneer's failure to resolve this, I filed formal complaints with:
Better Business Bureau (BBB): Case #[your number]
Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB): Case #[your number]

THE REAL PROBLEM:
This is a PATTERN. Multiple users online report the exact same issue - verification requirements show "approved" but accounts remain disabled indefinitely. Payoneer's automated system passes you, but manual restrictions remain without explanation.

Their customer service provides only scripted responses with no substantive help. No accountability, no transparency, no timeline.

RECOMMENDATION:
If you need reliable payment processing, use Wise (TransferWise), PayPal, or literally ANY other provider. Don't risk your hard-earned money with Payoneer's broken verification system and unresponsive support.

There is no protection from scammers.
The company will not protect you, as it did not protect me. The scammers charged me a significant amount on a day off. Payoneer support DID NOT WORK!

Wrong information given and high fees!

I received my payment through Payoneer for the 5th or so times but this time instead of releasing the funds they sent an email to say that my funds are withheld and that I needed to fill in a tax form. I called them and explained that I had filled in the form in July 2025. The first person told me that this particular company that paid me needed a tax form filled in (it's always the same company that pays me). I ended the call and phoned again. The second person said that I had filled in the form in 2023 and that I need to do it again. I ended the call and called again for the third time and luckily I found someone who was patient, looked into my case and understood that I had already completed the tax form and didn't need to do it again and so she immediately released the funds. Also the fees or the exchange rate used is so unfavorable.

Very poor service

I am extremely disappointed with Payoneer's service. My payment has been on hold for 3 days, and every time I contact support, they simply say "you will be notified in 24 hours or less," but nothing ever happens. There is no real update, no resolution, and no responsibility taken by the support team. This delay has caused serious inconvenience and frustration. Very poor service — I expected much better from Payoneer.

Lack of procedure

My money has been withheld because of an internal problem you all had. I've had several instances were I cannot withdraw my funds because the code to do so is not populating, and I've had to call to have that code sent to my email. This is what we make a living off of, so I'm not sure what the upside to using this instead of PayPal is.
