Sending dead nursery stock and will not refund or replace. Thier warranty is a scam, 24 hours. Ordered 3 to 4 foot trees got 2 foot. They probably add the roots to their height. Tennessee is having drought so they making their customers foot the bill.
Beautiful plants in great condition, great prices, fine service. I've ordered from them several times, and have always been delighted.
Thank you so much for giving us a try! 🌱
I had signed up some time ago for a monthly subscription. I canceled after about 4 months because I kept getting the same plants, all ferns. Customer service was little to no help. Wasted my money. In addition the writing identifying the plants was usually illegible.
Thank you so much!
I've ordered several times from TN Nursery. Any failures have been of my own negligence. The dormant plants arrive packed nicely, with instructions, and all it takes is patience (and labeling) for them to come up and thrive.
Thank you so much!
We ordered plants a month in advance for a volunteer event. Shipping estimate gave us plenty of time. When plants did not arrive, I called the nursery and was told they had not been dug yet and would not arrive on time (due to conditions at the nursery). I pushed and they agreed to dig and ship same day. We were able to get the plants in the ground on volunteer day but the lack of communication from the nursery earned the poor review.
Hi Jessica,
Thank you for your feedback—we do appreciate you sharing your experience.
We’re glad you were able to get the plants in time for your volunteer event, but we do understand how the lack of communication was frustrating.
When we mentioned conditions at the nursery, that refers to field digging conditions, which directly affect when plants can be safely harvested without damaging root systems. That said, we agree communication could have been better, and we’ll work to improve that.
We are a family-run nursery, and feedback like yours helps us do better.
Thank you again, and we appreciate the work you’re doing with your volunteer efforts 🌱
I ordered hardy water lillies. They came as a cut disc. Spongy. I potted them according to video directions. Nothing so far. Also blue flag. Maybe 1/2? Are up. 2 kiddy swimming pools taking up space in my greenhouse for nothing
Hi,
We understand your concern and want to clarify a few important points.
Hardy water lilies are shipped as root divisions, which can look like a soft or spongy cut piece at first—that is completely normal and how they are propagated. They often take time to establish in water before showing visible growth.
For the blue flag iris, having about half come up is actually not unusual early on. Many of these are slow to establish and some may not show full growth until later in the season or even the following spring.
Water temperature, depth, and sunlight all play a big role in how quickly aquatic plants respond, especially in controlled environments like pools or greenhouses.
We are a family-run nursery, and we do not send dead plants—what you’re seeing is consistent with normal dormancy and establishment timing.
If you’d like help adjusting your setup, please email [email protected], and we’ll be happy to guide you.
Thank you. 🌱
At first I was doubtful of the product since all you get is a damp root sytem in a bag.
But after planting the Staghorn Sumacs, they came to life really quickly.
Thank you so much!
I received a few different ground covers last fall. None of them survived the winter. I may order some again this spring/early summer, to try again.
Thank you so much!
I am a big believer in using native species in our garden and I really appreciate having a place to go that specializes in that plant category.
Thank you so much!
Ordered water lily 2 yrs ago. It was buy 1, get 1. Needed just one so I gave it to my neighbor. We need more this year so it's buy 1, get 1 again.
Thank you so much!
This nursery, as stated, always does bareroot plant shipping. Don't be skeptical when they first arrive at the appropriate planting time looking bland. Do be patient. My first purchase was a hibiscus bush 5 years ago and I almost dug it up after the first 2 years with nothing. Then in year three: Kaboom. It now 6 feet tall and blooms beautifully every year.
Thank you! 🌱
My previous experience only involved ordering I have not received the product yet, but I just ordered yesterday so I don't expect to see it for a little while
Thank you so much!
I have bought several trees from TN in the past 8 months, not realizing how much time it would take to get them properly planted: digging holes large & deep enough, amending the soil. My success rate has been less than 50%. Either I didn't get the trees in the ground soon enough or they were too stressed upon receipt to survive. You should advise your customers to have the holes dug before the trees arrive & get them in the ground within a few days - especially when they have several delivered at the same time.
Hi Lisa,
We appreciate your feedback, but we do want to be clear—we sell strong, healthy, viable bareroot trees that are dug fresh and shipped in proper condition.
Bareroot planting does require timing and preparation, and success largely depends on how quickly they are planted and the conditions they go into. When planting multiple trees at once, delays or soil conditions can significantly impact outcomes.
We do provide guidance, but ultimately planting success is influenced by factors outside of our control once they leave our nursery.
We are a family-run nursery, and we take pride in the quality of our stock and the value we provide.
If you ever want help selecting varieties better suited to your soil or setup, feel free to reach out.
Thank you. 🌱
Ordering process is frustrating. I thought I added Virginia Creeper@ 5.99/plant (there were no other options) to my cart. The price in the cart was $8.39/plant. Virtual assistant was not precise enough in its answers - saying the $8.39 "probably" indicated it was a larger size than the one shown on the product page. When the Plant Protection didn't show up as a separate line item, I did the math & figured it had already been added to the price/plant. AI should have caught that & saved me the extra work.
We planted 13 trees and they all died (unfortunately). We got a store credit and repurchased the same type trees. Hoping this time they will thrive.
Hi,
Thank you for giving us another try—we truly appreciate that.
If the same type didn’t do well the first time, it may be worth considering a different variety. Sometimes certain trees just don’t match well with specific soil types, drainage, or conditions, even when everything is done right.
We’re glad you were able to use your credit, and we’re hoping this round does better. If not, we’d be happy to help you choose something that may be a better fit for your soil and location.
We are a family-run nursery, and we truly want you to have success.

Never saw any taxes charged for my order but not complaining!
A company that you can trust. I am a customer for several years and I had a very good experience with them.
Thank you so much!
I've twice ordered European hornbeam plants (which aren't easy to find) in bulk for a large hedge in progress. They arrived in good shape, and when one arrived at a time when It couldn't be planted in my climate, the nursery replaced it for me at a later time.
Thank you so much!
I have ordered roots in the past and they never grew. Its been two years. I thought I would give these a try since the price is right.
Hi Sharon,
Thank you for giving us another try—we truly appreciate it.
We do want to clarify that most perennials will not show growth right away. In many cases, they spend their first season establishing roots and will come up the following spring after planting, even though they are alive underground.
We are a family-run nursery, and reviews like this do impact us. We take pride in sending viable plants and want you to have success this time.
If you ever want help with specific plants or what to expect, please reach out to [email protected].
Thank you. 🌱
I ordered some patio peach trees that shipped for the right season and they are starting wonderfully i also have gotten privet most amazing plant ever the aroma is like nothing else and they are growing wonderfully
Thank you!
Some things were good but I received shrubs too late to plant in the fall. It was avoidable since we have freezing temps in October The sale and to replace some plants that diesand the excuse was your plants weren't dormant yet- obviously I can't order shrubs in the fall.
Thank you! I hope they all do well for you.
I bought trees and raspberries and almost all did not make it. And the were not allowed for return.
One peach tree was allowed for returning for less than the cost of the tee
Hi Susan,
We’re sorry to hear about your experience and understand your frustration.
Our plants are shipped bareroot and dormant, and it’s not uncommon for some to struggle after planting due to transplant shock, soil conditions, watering, or weather, which are outside of our control once planted.
We do have a 24-hour arrival policy to verify plants arrive alive, and our return/replacement options are based on that timeframe. The extended warranty covers longer-term outcomes after planting.
Regarding your peach tree, we’re glad we were able to offer a resolution there.
We are a family-run nursery, and reviews like this do impact us. We would never knowingly send out dead plants.
If you’d like us to review your order further, please reach out to [email protected].
Thank you. 🌱
Answer: The buy one get one offer they ran. It was a Hugh mistake. I regret wasting my money!
Answer: I can never get a response from anyone. If I call the number with my issue they tell me I have to email them.
Answer: Call the customer service number listed on the site Mon-Fri 8:00-4:00 CST

Hi,
We’re sorry you feel this way, but we do need to clarify several inaccurate statements.
Our trees are shipped bareroot and dormant, which means they will not have leaves and may appear smaller than expected at arrival. Sizes listed are approximate ranges, and trees are often trimmed before shipping to support root establishment.
We do not ship dead plants. If a plant is truly non-viable at arrival, it would show signs such as being mushy or decomposed, not firm and dormant.
Our 24-hour live arrival policy is clearly stated and agreed to at checkout so plant condition can be verified immediately. After planting, outcomes depend on soil, moisture, weather, and care conditions, which are outside of our control.
We are a family-owned and operated nursery, and statements like calling us a “scam” are not accurate. Reviews like this do impact small businesses like ours.
If you’d like us to review your order, please email [email protected].
Thank you. 🌱
