Unity is one of the best game engines out there, i have been making games for at least last 3 years and the ease of access with the great community is a boon for the beginners. Unity not only supports 3d and 2d games but also gives ease with multiple language support (javascript, c#) and games like cuphead, ori and the blind forest show exactly what unity is capable of in the right hands.
I tried making a game with Unity, but there was nothing. Absolutely nothing. I tried opening the app, and it just closed on me and I kept getting errors. I mean, try it if you want, it's your funeral.
